From time to time we receive submissions for our Monkey See, Monkey Do category and, if the similarities are not readily apparent to us, we don’t post them.
However, it occurs to us such editorial oversight might imply that we have some journalistic integrity and, frankly, there is no room for that sort of rectitude here in the blogosphere.
With that in mind, we are pleased to share this example sent in by a reader:
Dear Edwina,
I thought you might want to take a look at this: the new Smash poster (NBC's midseason show). It's like a new cycle of Top Model...
Bye...

Rectitude!

As much as I like to bash when bashing is due, the SMASH art is based on a concept. It looks as if (based on the copy) that they are all helping to create a star. The ANTM art is a gang of "pretty" girls posing for the camera–hey, it really is a concept for the show! sorry. my bad.

other than that guy in the middle who didn’t get the memo on what the concept was about, the Smash art is excellent.

This is such a rip-off! Both of them blatantly feature photographs of human beings and include super-imposed type. There's even a logo on each one. Are there NO original ideas any more?
