Matthew Weiner's Memory Is A Bit Sketchy

A recent New York Times article tells us the show's creator, Matthew Weiner, inspired by a childhood memory of lush, painterly illustrations on T.W.A. flight menus, wanted to recreate that look for this season’s print campaign.

It could be we are thinking of a different era, but the Mad Men finished art looks more like a rough indication than any of the “lush, painterly illustrations” we remember from back in the day.

And the big picture of the guy, he looks scared too, scared of the earthquake. Argo is the name of the guy in the picture. Or it has something to do with a ship, like there is an earthquake and they all have to go on a ship named Argo. It looks like a bad movie and I can't see it because it's PG-13."

Smooth Move, Exlax

LA Observed has this to say in regards to our industry's light hand when it comes to re-re-re-re-re-touching: 

The Trader Joe's on Olympic Boulevard in West Los Angeles was awash Tuesday in ads promoting "The Guilt Trip," ... At least five billboards were aimed at shoppers, plus a digital sign just down the street. And not a wrinkle in sight. It's nice that Hollywood has learned not to worry that 70-year-old actors come with a few miles on their faces.

If We Can’t Trust The Internets, What Can We Trust?

The image of beaten and bloody Ryan Gosling is making the rounds on the web as the official movie poster for Nicolas Winding Refn's violent crime drama "Only God Forgives." However, that is not the case according to a rep for the Danish director: "Someone stole a still photo and made a fake poster."

Guess we won’t see the actual poster until someone steals a concept.

Missed Opportunity Knockers

Recalling a 2004 King Arthur one- sheet, Keira Knightley spoke of her annoyance at her breasts being Photoshopped for movie posters.

"I was only angry when they … gave me these really strange droopy tits. A… I don't have tits anyway and B... they digitally made them, and I thought, 'Whoaaa!'"

She added: "It's my face on that poster. I thought, 'Well, if you're going to make me fantasy breasts, at least make perky breasts'."
