That’s the first tagline in the Oscars' 80something year history.
According to Ad Age, the copy was cluster-conceived by Omelet L.A.; the Academy's marketing chief, Janet Weiss; Academy President Tom Sherak; executives at ABC; and show producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer.
Apparently Cohen and Mischer are targeting a younger audience for the show not only with that epic tagline, but with youthful hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco and an iPhone app. Golly! We feel less mature already!

"You're Invited" for $500./person, if you're and Academy member and if you win the ticket lottery...

Does client cluster f__k come to mind? Do you think 'Social Media' was included in their conversations? And, did '...let's get a FB fanpage up immediately!'find it's way into the marketing campaign? All because the average age of the Academy is 34 and most likely older the Academy and ABC are desperately trying to get to the younger demo.

Instead of making 4 shitty posters, they should have concentrated on designing at least one good one.
Quantity does not equal quality.
